Making relationships work is hard.

My beautiful wife and I have been married for 26 years, and we still work at our relationship every day. OK, not every day … but that only means when we DO work on it, our efforts are even more important.

As the new District Commissioner, one of my top goals is to improve the relationship between the district and every unit in Wotamalo. I know this won't be easy. But I also know it's an important goal to have, because better relations between units and the district will help create a better experience for our Scouts. And that's the only thing that really counts.

I also know one other thing: I can't do this solo. I won't even try to go it alone. Wotamalo is blessed with a current staff of excellent commissioners who have volunteered to help units succeed. In turn, they are backed by truly dedicated Pack, Troop and Crew volunteers who - in their heart of hearts - only want to deliver a quality program to our Scouts. Seems to me great things will come by building the relations between these outstanding teams.

No doubt, it will be hard work. Every effort won't succeed, but we'll keep on trying. Because it's a job worth doing if, in the end, we can honestly say that we did right by our Scouts.
